HI! I'M BACK: THE MAILMAN

I've had a lot of catching up to do in Boca and had to see my internist, which killed an entire day, but hope to be steady again with all of my friends. Val

It was an unusually beautiful afternoon in Port Jervis, New York.  Eddie looked around and decided to get out of the house to enjoy some of warmth that everyone waited for so patiently during all those months of winter.  It was 1:00 PM.

On his way out he noticed a pair of shoes in the closet that were not as they should be.  He put shoe trees in side and felt better. Looking around for his keys he recalled leaving them on the front seat of his car and that he had also left a package on the back seat that needed unpacking and put on the kitchen shelves.

The mailbox flag was up so he stopped for that. One piece of mail looked interesting, the new Men's Glam. A quick swish thru and onto the rest of the mail, mostly junk. With everything under control he took off his shoes, laid down on the sofa and looked more carefully thru the mag. Thinking  he should use the bathroom before leaving the house, Noticing  the toilet paper roll was almost depleted and found there was none under the bathroom counter,  He went to the garage, opened a new package and carried a few rolls back to the bathroom.  In replacing the roll, the spring snapped from his fingers and flew across the room.  At first glance, he could not find the spring.  It had slid towards the bath mat and was entangled in the fringe, unwound, set the roll right and was ready to go outside. It was now almost 4:30.  The day had cooled to the point of being chilly.  His lined jacket was on the railing. One step outside and the day was no longer inviting.

The kitchen was. There was a part of a tasty leg of lamb left over from last night. All he had to do was slice it, nuke it, boil a potato, slice a fresh, red Maryland tomato and relax. As he ate, he turned  the pages of the new Men's Glam. Too many political opinions bored him. Photos of governors, senators with their young, busty wives, glowing like they were princesses going to the ball infuriated him.  Hmmn, apple pie with vanilla ice cream, will finish dinner for me, he thought. The few dishes washed, dried and neatly put in the cabinets, he went upstairs to bed, took off all his clothes and laid down. His high density lamp lit the next section of the mag. The he's with he's  was what it was all about.

On the last page was a coupon for $5 off if you re-new your subscription. He cut it out and mailed it in the morning. Day--and night--were over.
